Our client is a world leading manufacturer of highly qualified products. They operate worldwide and are family owned. In the Netherlands they are based in Tilburg area, they employ over 300 people with many nationalities. For them we are searching for a Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager.

Functieomschrijving

Scope of the function
You are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s environmental, health and safety policies. You ensure that these policies are implemented correctly and consistently across the organization.
Furthermore you are tasked with developing new policies or procedures related to EHS issues. This might include anything from creating plans for handling emergencies to designing programs to reduce workplace hazards or further increase employee safety.
You supervise the activities of the Health & Safety officer and report to the managing director.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

1. Health & Safety (in close cooperation with the Health & Safety officer)

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures, including identifying risks and providing training to employees on how to handle unsafe & hazardous materials or situations;
  • Manage the Risk Inventory Assessment (RIE) and coordinate all actions coming forth from this assessment;
  • Developing emergency response plans for fire hazards, chemical spills, etc.;
  • Maintaining records of accidents and injuries to track trends and improve safety measures;
  • Control database for hazardous chemicals (Stoffenmanager);

2. Environment
  • You are responsible for ensuring that the company operates in accordance with environmental guidelines and objectives;
  • Make sure that compliance with environmental laws & guidelines is followed across the whole organization;
  • Manage all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, conservation and renewable energy;
  • Responsible for the implementation of environmental policies and practices;
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation keeps up to date with (inter- )national regulation and legislation;
  • Liaise with relevant bodies such as local authorities & public bodies (Waterschappen);
  • Audit, analyzes and report environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies ( e.g. LWG);
  • Carry out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce organization's environmental risks;
  • Develop and implement environmental management systems (EMS) to continually improve the impact of the organization on the environment

3. Other
  • Support coordination of EHS activities in other units
  • Make sure that all EHS activities will be closely aligned with the sustainability strategy and activities of Sko;
  • Supervise the activities of the Health & Safety officer, set objectives and support the further development in skills and competences of the staff;

Functie eisen

  • Relevant Bachelor Degree (Environmental / Safety management, HVK;
  • 5- 10 years experience in a similar function in an international production environment;
  • Demonstrable experience in working with integrated EHS systems;
  • Experience with environmental permits and BRZO;
  • Has required technical qualifications ( HVK , VCA-VOL, Head BHV, BVO );
  • Knowledge about Dutch and EU laws on Environment, Health & Safety;
  • Excellent communication skills, able to get buy-in from all stakeholders;
  • Practical, no-nonsense problem solving skills;
  • Statistical knowledge, knowledge about measurement methods/ analysis;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English;
