Our client is a global leader in electric vehicle battery recycling services. They are part of a multinational in sustainable development. For them sustainability is the foundation of everything they do. They operate in 20 countries with over 40 facilities. They are committed to minimizing battery waste and maximizing the potential of used batteries through environmentally responsible recycling and logistics. For their new facility in Rotterdam Europoort we are searching for a HSEQ Specialist.

Functieomschrijving

As HSEQ Specialist, your primary mission is to ensure a compliant, safe and secure environment for the teams and visitors. You will oversee site EHSS compliance, Quality Management systems, EHSS risk management, incident reporting and investigation and EHSS & Sustainability performance measurement and reporting. Collaborating within the Global HSEQ team, you will play a pivotal role in creating safer sites and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety conditions. You work closely with the sr. Process Engineer and the Regional QESH manager and report to the General Manager.

Your key responsibilities are:

• Ensure alignment with Global/Group EHS standards and policies.
  
• Collaborate with the site operation team and BU (battery recycling) QEHS department.
  
• Foster environmental, health, and safety awareness and accountability across all organizational levels.
  
• Escalate EHS incidents to General Manager and Regional QEHS Manager.
  
• Develop EHS operating procedures.
  
• Manage environmental permits and impact assessments.
  
• Conduct EHS hazard and risk assessments.
  
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs, including EHS inductions for new hires.
  
• Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and monitor corrective actions.
  
• Conduct or ensure regular internal EHS audits and inspections, communicating nonconformities to department leads.
  
• Coordinate site Certifications ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and Seveso regulations together with compliance team.
  
• Maintain all logs, documents, and reports necessary for a safe and environmentally responsible site.

Functie eisen

• Health & Safety Education (MBO+/ HBO degree) like IVK, MVK, HVK or Nebosh
  
• HSEQ experience and knowledge in an industrial environment
  
• Knowledge of local environmental, health, and safety regulations and permit systems and knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and Seveso
  
• Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
  
• Able to make decisions and work independently with a proactive and flexible attitude.
  
• You are proficient in both written and verbal communication in Dutch and English.
